Hi Knithropologist,

I just discovered your blog thru craftivism.com, and I love the name, so I had to check you out!
I began knitting again (for the third time in my life), as part of a charity knitting project at the high school where I work. My past efforts were thwarted by biting off more than I could chew(as in starting out on a big boring sweater without seeking the help of friendly knitters. Too frustrating and overwhelming so I quit. The school project is Knit one, save one for save the children, making newborn caps. Such a simple, manageable project that I graduated to chemo caps and Christmas projects for friends.

I was so happy to come upon Betsy's book, which is so inspiring and supportive. My local library has it, so I brought it along to the school knitting group to share with the students.
I also recommended that the school library acquire a copy for inspiration for Knitting club's future projects.

Thanks for your blog! Happy knitting!

My word, the internet moves quickly! Thank *you* for stopping by, and I'm so, so pleased that there's a real knitted globe out there in the world. My compliments to your editor!

Hrm...accountability for my 25%. That's a good idea. I might have to create a public list. Right, I'd best get cracking! Thanks again for dropping in!

hello there...

just wanted to say thank for your kind words....

and that the globe on the cover was knitted. although they digitally manipulated it a bit, it was a real, awesome globe knitted by my editor, which totally gobsmacked me in the best of ways. i'll have to ask if she used a pattern or made it up?

oh, and i will be checking up on you to see if you reach that 25% goal! :)

We all know EZ was a genius! No matter what kind of day I am having, it's just a bit easier to bear if I can pick up my knitting and work through a few rows, and the more complex the design the more my mind is removed from the worry and stress of my day. Knitting has become my therapy over the past few years. And believe me, with my job I need a lot of therapy---I teach middle and high school students. I usually keep some sort of project in my tote bag so that if I am having a tough day I can knit for a few minutes during lunch, break, or planning time. It calms my nerves and makes the kids (and me) easier to deal with.

I wanted to thank you for "Friending" me in Ravelry. I would have sent a note in Ravelry but I found your blog through your Ravelry site and this is the first entry I read. I could relate to every single thing you said. My alcoholic mother passed away three years ago and those issues will be with me for the rest of my life. I'm also not as "svelte" as I was when I was younger, eat very healthy and am having to face up to the fact that I will have to exercise to keep things from getting any worse. BTW are you familiar with a television show called Love Your Body Naked? I just discovered it last week, althought the ladies in my office seem to have been watching it for two years! Anyway, I love it so I wanted to call it to your attention.

And I love the references to the graduate study theses!!! Absolutely amazing!

Where did you get the tissue packet holder pattern? I bought some linen handkerchiefs when we were in Ireland a few weeks ago. I would like to keep one nice and tidy in a holder.

Yours in knitting,
Kelley

Thank you! You know what's funny about bright colours is that you may not *wear* wear them, like in an entire pullover or something, but a bit of colour - like in a scarf - is pretty manageable.

And we'll see about Horace...there may be some frogging and re-knitting in his future (so much for that awesome moss stitch!).

The dashings you made me last year are back out of the winter clothes box as it is finally cold enough to warrant them. I'd love another pair or so if you are feeling inclined and able.
